Mets agreed to terms with second baseman-outfielder Marlon Anderson on a two-year, $2.2 million contract.

Mets declined infielder Jose Valentin's $4.3 million option for 2008. Mets declined RHP Brian Lawrence's $4 million option for 2008. Mets sent LHP Dave Williams and outfielder David Newhan outright to Triple-A New Orleans. Williams has already declined the assignment, and Newhan is expected to do the same. Williams gave up 11 earned runs in 4 2/3 innings for the Mets last season.
